With projections indicating a shortfall of thousands of nurses in the coming years, there is a pressing need for healthcare professionals in the city. Recent legislative changes have allowed non-locally trained nurses to work in Hong Kong without a licensing exam, opening up opportunities for foreign healthcare workers.
Yul discussed the success of a nurse placement agreement between Germany and Indonesia, where nurses undergo training before being transferred to Germany. He aims to establish a similar arrangement in Hong Kong to address the staffing crunch in the healthcare sector.
In addition to healthcare workers, Yul emphasized the importance of promoting Hong Kong’s universities to Indonesian students. By expanding cooperation through student exchange programs and joint publications, he aims to attract more talent to study in key sectors such as business, technology, and finance.
