In response to threats from Iran and Hezbollah, Thailand has temporarily halted the arrival of foreign workers in Israel. The Israel Population Authority plans to resume sending workers once the risk decreases, working closely with the embassy to ensure a safe arrival.
Thai laborers started returning to Israel in May, following a hiatus after the Hamas attack in October. The number of agricultural workers from Thailand has been steadily increasing since then.
The arrival of Thai workers in Israel is part of a governmental agreement aiming to bring over 10,000 Thais by the year’s end. Prior to the October attack, about 30,000 Thai laborers were employed in Israeli agriculture.
Tragically, 39 Thais were killed by Hamas terrorists in the October attack, with 32 others kidnapped. Six are still believed to be held in Gaza.
