Israeli Poll Shows Support for Targeted Assassinations

A recent poll conducted in Israel revealed that 69% of Israelis support targeted assassinations, even if they lead to delays in ceasefire and prisoner-hostage exchange deals with Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip. The survey, carried out by the Lazar Institute and published by Maariv, sampled 510 Israelis with a margin of error of 4.4%.

Despite ongoing attacks by Israel on Gaza since a Hamas incursion in October, the survey showed a majority in favor of targeted assassinations. The poll also highlighted preferences for political leaders, with 41% supporting opposition leader Benny Gantz over current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The survey results indicate a divide in the Israeli political landscape, with neither Netanyahu’s bloc nor the opposition led by Yair Lapid able to form a government independently. Talks for a ceasefire and hostage exchange have stalled following recent attacks in Beirut and Tehran.
