Kwara establishes committee for minimum wage adjustment

The Kwara State Government has established a 21-member tripartite committee to determine the consequential adjustment for other workers earning minimum wage in the state. This decision was authorized by Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq, in response to the new national minimum wage set at N70,000.

The committee, consisting of representatives from the government, labor centers, and the organized private sector, will address the need for adjustments for senior cadre workers. Chaired by the Head of Service, with the Commissioner for Finance as co-chair and the Director of Establishment and Pension as the Secretary, the committee includes key officials from various departments.

Representatives from the labor sector, including the NLC and TUC, as well as private sector organizations like the Kwara Chamber of Commerce and Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, are also part of the committee. This initiative aims to ensure fair and equitable adjustments for workers in line with the new minimum wage policy.
