Biden Has ‘Nothing to Do’ With Prisoner Swap Between Russia, West – Belarusian President
Sputnik International
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated that US President Joe Biden had no involvement in organizing the recent prisoner exchange between Russia and Western countries. Lukashenko emphasized that Biden is now trying to “earn credibility” by taking credit for the exchange, which was primarily organized by special services without diplomatic intervention. The Belarusian side extended maximum assistance to facilitate the exchange, which involved 24 individuals, marking one of the largest prisoner swap agreements since the Cold War. Notably, eight Russians detained in various NATO countries were repatriated to Russia as part of the deal, while a plane carrying former US Marine Paul Whelan and other individuals landed in Maryland. This high-profile swap signifies a significant diplomatic development and has captured global attention.
