BBC chairman rejects claims of systemic antisemitism.

Recent allegations of anti-Jewish racism within the BBC have sparked controversy, with over 200 staff members and contributors calling for an investigation into systemic antisemitism at the organization. Despite these claims, BBC chairman Samir Shah dismissed the need for an investigation, stating that the BBC fosters an inclusive culture and has processes in place for whistleblowers.

The letter, signed by both named and anonymous employees, detailed instances of prejudice and racism towards Jewish staff members. Critics argue that if other minority groups were treated this way, the BBC would have a zero-tolerance policy. Employees shared personal testimonies and highlighted concerns about bias in the coverage of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Film producer Leo Pearlman and other signatories expressed disappointment in Shah’s response, calling it dismissive and inadequate. The BBC, however, reiterated its commitment to impartiality and stated that it takes concerns of abuse and intolerance seriously.
