The Automobile Association (AA) predicts minor fuel price decreases for August, based on unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF). 95ULP is expected to drop by 14c/litre, 93ULP by 9c/l, diesel by 26c/l, and illuminating paraffin by 21c/l. The Rand/US dollar exchange rate and lower international oil prices are the main influences behind the decreases, according to the AA.
With consumers saving just over R7 on a 55-litre tank of 95ULP and R4.95 on ULP93, the AA advises on maintaining vehicle health to reduce fuel consumption. They also welcomed President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement of a fuel price formula review, urging quick implementation and involvement of all stakeholders. The official announcement for the adjusted fuel price in August is expected on August 5.
