Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin, visited Tehran and met with Iran’s new President, Masoud Pezeshkian, to discuss mutual cooperation and friendship between the two countries. The meeting highlighted the importance of improving relations and exploring opportunities for collaboration in various fields.
Vulin expressed gratitude for Iran’s support in not recognizing Kosovo’s independence and emphasized the need for cooperation between “free countries.” Despite facing sanctions from the US due to his ties with Russia, Vulin remains committed to strengthening ties with Iran.
Serbia has been enhancing its cooperation with Iran since 2021, despite being under EU sanctions. Belgrade hopes for Tehran’s support regarding Kosovo, whose independence it does not acknowledge. The meeting between Vulin and Pezeshkian signifies a positive step towards enhancing diplomatic relations between Serbia and Iran.
