Government Urged to Take Action Against Gender-Based Violence

01 August 2024 – 22:00

The newly appointed MEC of health in the Eastern Cape, Ntandokazi Capa, made a bold statement at a school in the province, condemning the alarming rate of teenage pregnancies. Capa emphasized the importance of implementing the National Policy on the Prevention and Management of Learner Pregnancy to address this issue effectively.

Capa also urged the government to actively prosecute perpetrators of gender-based violence and rape. She criticized the lack of serious action from authorities in combating these crimes, emphasizing the need for accountability and justice for victims.

As the fight against gender-based violence continues, Capa’s strong stance serves as a reminder of the urgent need for systemic changes and decisive actions to protect vulnerable populations.
