Recent military exercises in Russia have entered their third phase, with a focus on training for the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that personnel from the Central and Southern Military Districts, as well as the Aerospace Forces, are taking part in the drill.
The goal of the exercise is to improve troops’ skills in preparing non-strategic nuclear weapons for possible combat scenarios. Missile units from the Southern and Central Military Districts will practice combat tasks and work with specialized ammunition for the Iskander-M missile systems.
The drills involve equipping these systems with launch vehicles and moving covertly to designated positions for electronic launches. Previous stages of the exercises included training with Belarusian forces on handling specialized ammunition for the Iskander system.
