Nigerian protesters rally against high cost of living | Protests News

Protests erupted in Nigeria as thousands took to the streets in cities nationwide to demonstrate against the high cost of living. Despite warnings from officials, the movement gained momentum online under the hashtag #EndbadGovernanceinNigeria.

The country faces economic challenges following the removal of a fuel subsidy and currency liberalization by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. With food prices soaring and fuel prices tripling, many Nigerians are struggling to make ends meet.

In Abuja and Kano, police used tear gas to disperse protesters, while in Kano, demonstrations turned violent with fires set outside government offices. Protests spread to other cities, with calls for government action to alleviate the economic burden on citizens.

Amid the unrest, a sense of dissatisfaction with governance and a demand for change is palpable among the protesters. Despite crackdowns and arrests by security forces, the rallying cry for better living conditions continues to echo across the nation.

The protests highlight the deep-seated frustrations of Nigerians and the urgent need for addressing economic hardships through effective governance and policy reforms.
