The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) in Jordan, supported by the Italian Government and the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), launched a project to enhance food security and resilience among Jordanian communities and Syrian refugees. The project aims to improve agricultural production chains to benefit 200 households in Balqaa, Jerash, and Ajloun.
The inception workshop, attended by Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat and Italian Ambassador Luciano Pezzotti, introduced stakeholders to the project’s goals and implementation strategies. Italy’s Ambassador highlighted the importance of addressing food security challenges and promoting sustainable solutions for vulnerable populations.
Minister Hneifat praised the partnership with FAO and Italy, emphasizing the need for collaboration in enhancing agricultural sector tools. The project focuses on providing skills and training in agri-food production to empower Syrian refugees and Jordanian communities towards self-reliance.
