EU commissioner nominee praises PM for acknowledging Macedonia’s crucial role.

Central Macedonia Governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas met with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at Maximos Mansion to discuss his nomination as EU commissioner. Tzitzikostas expressed his gratitude and commitment to creating a Europe that meets the expectations of citizens.

Highlighting the government’s recognition of northern Greece and Macedonia, Tzitzikostas emphasized his dedication to improving the lives of Greek and European citizens. Mitsotakis praised Tzitzikostas’ record in local government and European institutions.

Although the final decision rests with the European Commission chief, Mitsotakis hopes for a commission role that reflects Greece’s progress and role. Tzitzikostas, a 45-year-old economist and political figure, has served as governor of Central Macedonia since 2013 and enjoys popularity among citizens.
