Egypt increases metro fare prices.

Egypt increases metro fare prices.

The Ministry of Transport announced an increase in Cairo metro ticket prices following the government’s decision to raise gasoline prices. The new fares will be effective from August 1, with an increase of 25-30% across all three metro lines.

The price hike affects different station ranges: from 6 to 8 Egyptian pounds for nine stations, 8 to 10 pounds for 10-16 stations, 12 to 15 pounds for 17-23 stations, and 20 pounds for more than 23 stations.

This adjustment comes in response to rising fuel costs, ultimately impacting public transportation costs. The decision aims to balance the cost of operating the metro system with the recent changes in fuel prices.
