China recently summoned a senior Japanese diplomat to address Tokyo’s detrimental portrayal of China and its interference in China’s internal affairs. Liu Jinsong of the Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed dissatisfaction with Japan’s negative comments on China at various international meetings.
Liu condemned Japan’s attacks on China, emphasizing the need for a more objective view and cessation of interference in China’s internal matters. He urged Japan to refrain from forming exclusive alliances that provoke confrontation. Liu stressed the importance of upholding the bilateral relationship’s political foundation.
In response, Yokochi Akira of the Japanese Embassy reiterated Japan’s commitment to the 1972 Japan-China Joint Statement on Taiwan and expressed a desire to strengthen the strategic reciprocity between the two nations.
