Iran Mourns Assassination of Hamas Leader in Tehran
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei led funeral prayers for Hamas’s Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh and his security guard, who were assassinated during their visit to Tehran. The ceremony, held at Tehran University, was attended by massive crowds of Iranian mourners.
Haniyeh was in Iran to attend President Masoud Pezeshkian’s swearing-in ceremony, accompanied by other Axis of Resistance leaders. Preliminary investigations suggest the Israeli regime’s direct role in the assassination, with backing from the Biden administration.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf condemned the Israeli regime’s actions, warning of a “heavy price” to pay. Ayatollah Khamenei also warned of a “harsh response”, stating it is Iran’s duty to avenge the blood of the Palestinian leader.
The ceremony highlighted the resistance against Israel’s genocidal actions, emphasizing the resolve to continue the path despite such cowardly acts of terror.
