Abuja: The Heart of Nigeria, Our Battle Against Bad Governance

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, praised peaceful protesters in Abuja, emphasizing the importance of non-violence for the unity of the nation. Speaking at a Chiefs’ Staff of Office presentation, Wike acknowledged the #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protests in Abuja, urging dialogue with the government.

Despite some clashes prompting tear gas from security forces, Wike highlighted the significance of maintaining peace and order. Amid fears of escalation, businesses and markets closed as precautionary measures. He encouraged patience with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration, stressing the potential for positive change through dialogue.

Emphasizing the central role of Abuja in Nigeria’s unity, Wike reiterated the need for peaceful protests, stating, “If we lose Abuja, we have lost Nigeria.” Promoting dialogue as a means to resolve grievances, he called for continued peaceful engagement with the government for a prosperous future.
