The Turkish government condemned Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz’s threatening social media post towards Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Katz, known for his anti-Turkish stance, compared Erdogan to Saddam Hussein amidst criticism of Israeli actions in Gaza.
Erdogan had previously mentioned the possibility of intervening in Israel to stop the killings, prompting Katz to make his controversial statement. In response, the Turkish Foreign Ministry referenced Adolf Hitler as a perpetrator of genocide, warning that Netanyahu and others would face a similar fate for their actions against Palestinians.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reiterated Erdogan as the voice of humanity’s conscience, emphasizing that history holds consequences for all involved in genocide. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz dismissed the Netanyahu administration’s statements as insignificant, highlighting the ongoing trial at the International Court of Justice for genocide and war crimes.
The message from Turkey was clear – those who oppress the Palestinians will ultimately be held accountable, and humanity will prevail over oppressive regimes.
