Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Directs Action Against Polio
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed concern over Pakistan’s status as one of the two countries facing the challenge of polio. In a meeting with a polio eradication team, he emphasized the need to ensure the availability of polio vaccine in high-risk security areas.
Highlighting the progress made in polio eradication through the efforts of frontline workers and government determination, PM Shehbaz stressed the importance of vaccinating every child in vulnerable regions. The meeting discussed upcoming polio vaccination drives and the digitization of data for tracking missed children.
With nine polio cases reported in 2024, including a recent case in Zhob district, Balochistan, the government is actively working to address the issue. PM Shehbaz was joined by health officials in formulating strategies to combat polio and protect the children of Pakistan.
