Israel Strikes Down Key Terrorist Leaders in Tactical Raids
Israel executed targeted strikes on key leaders of terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah, Ismail Haniyeh and Fuad Shukr, in separate operations. Haniyeh was in Tehran attending a presidential inauguration, while Shukr was a close advisor to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, responsible for the deaths of many Israeli civilians.
Hamas confirmed Haniyeh’s death, calling it a “victory or martyrdom,” while Israel acknowledged the strike on Shukr as retaliation for recent attacks on Israeli civilians. The tension between Israel and Hezbollah escalated, prompting mass evacuations on both sides of the border.
Shukr, with a US$5 million bounty on his head, had been involved in the 1983 bombing of the US Marine Corps Barracks in Beirut. The strikes in Beirut and Tehran marked decisive actions by Israel against terrorism.
