Following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei vowed to “take revenge” for the attack, calling it a duty to honor the fallen leader.
Khamenei expressed deep sorrow over the incident, labeling the Zionist regime as “criminal and terrorist” for their actions. He emphasized Haniyeh’s dedication to his cause and willingness to sacrifice everything, including his life, for the battle.
Haniyeh was in Tehran for Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s swearing-in ceremony before the tragic event occurred.
Iran has declared three days of mourning in the wake of Haniyeh’s assassination, with investigations currently ongoing to determine the circumstances of his death.
While Israel has not claimed responsibility, suspicions have pointed in their direction due to previous threats against Hamas leaders. International condemnations and responses from various governments continue to pour in following this tragic event.
