Iran denounces Israel’s Beirut attack, urges UN Security Council intervention

Iran has denounced Israel’s recent strike on Beirut in a strongly worded letter to the president of the UN Security Council, calling for immediate action against what they termed as a “cowardly terrorist attack.” The Iranian mission to the UN highlighted Israel’s disregard for international law and expressed deep concern over the loss of civilian lives in the attack.

The letter emphasized the need for the Security Council to condemn the aggression and take swift measures to prevent such actions from recurring, stressing the importance of holding Israel accountable for its actions. The Israeli strike on southern Beirut was reportedly in retaliation for an attack on Majdal Shams, which Israel attributed to Hezbollah, although the Lebanese group denied any involvement.

As a result of the Israeli strike on Beirut, three people lost their lives, and 74 others sustained injuries, as confirmed by the Lebanese Health Ministry. The incident has further escalated tensions in the region, with calls for justice and peace resonating strongly from Iran’s letter to the Security Council.
