IDF concludes response to Hezbollah attack in Beirut

Israel Strikes Beirut: Retaliation for Rocket Attack

Israel’s military claimed to have killed a top Hezbollah commander in a rare airstrike on Beirut, retaliating for a rocket attack that killed 12 Druze youths in Majdel Shams. The strike targeted Fuad Shukr, blamed for the cross-border attack, according to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

A loud blast hit Beirut’s southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold, with casualties reported. Despite Hezbollah denying involvement in the rocket strike, tensions escalated. The UN called for calm amid fears of wider conflict in the region.

The Israeli action drew condemnation from Lebanese officials and regional allies like Hamas and Iran. The White House pledged support to Israel’s security. Israel indicated no immediate plans for further strikes, monitoring Hezbollah’s response.

Concerns about escalation persist as Hezbollah and Israel have exchanged fire since the Gaza war. Aiming to prevent further violence, diplomatic efforts are underway to defuse the situation.
