Hezbollah commander killed in Beirut strike, says Israel

Israel’s military claimed it killed Hezbollah’s top commander, Fuad Shukr, in an airstrike on Beirut. The attack came in response to a rocket strike by Hezbollah that killed 12 Israeli youths. The airstrike targeted Beirut’s southern suburbs, a stronghold of Hezbollah.

The blast was heard and a plume of smoke rose above the suburbs at around 7:40 p.m. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Shukr was responsible for the deaths of many Israelis and that Israel was sending a message that there would be consequences for such actions.

This event highlights the ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, with both sides engaging in retaliatory attacks. The incident also raises concerns about escalation in the region and the potential for further violence.
