Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Laos, urging the U.S. to manage risks and handle differences in bilateral relations. Wang emphasized the need to calibrate the direction of the relationship and promote cooperation.
He pointed out that while there has been communication between the two countries in various areas, the U.S.’s containment of China has intensified. Wang reiterated China’s commitment to mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
On various issues including the wrong perception of China, Taiwan, Ren’ai Jiao in the South China Sea, and the Ukraine crisis, Wang expressed China’s stance and called for cooperation. Blinken reaffirmed the U.S.’s commitment to stabilizing relations and willingness to manage differences.
