Anita Dunn, a longtime adviser to Joe Biden, is leaving the White House to join a major Democratic super PAC as a senior adviser, becoming the first to depart from the president’s inner circle since he announced he would not run for re-election. Dunn will serve as senior adviser to Future Forward, an independent group with a $50 million advertising campaign to boost Harris’ numbers in key battleground states. She will also advise Future Forward USA Action, its partner organization.
In a statement, Dunn expressed gratitude to President Biden and Vice President Harris for the opportunity to serve in their administration. Biden praised Dunn as a “tough and tested” member of his team and valued her counsel. Dunn, 66, advised Biden in the 2020 race, worked in the White House in 2021, and briefly departed before returning in 2022 to oversee communications.
This departure, reported by The Washington Post, comes after Biden’s recent debate performance and decision not to seek re-election. Dunn’s focus will now be on supporting Harris, whom Biden recently endorsed, as confirmed by her statements and a colleague from Politico.
Her contributions and dedication were also acknowledged by Harris’ White House chief of staff, highlighting Dunn’s value and commitment to her role and colleagues.
