India’s Stand on Pakistan Hosting T20 World Cup 2026
Amidst speculation that Pakistan may boycott the T20 World Cup in 2026 if India doesn’t travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in 2025, the Vice President of the Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI), Rajeev Shukla, addressed the reports. Shukla stated that India will only visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in 2025 if the government gives approval for the team’s travel.
During the Uttar Pradesh Premier League players’ auction, Shukla emphasized the importance of Indian government authorization for the team’s travel to foreign countries. He mentioned that despite Pakistan’s statements about playing in India for the 2026 World Cup, the Indian government’s approval is awaited.
The BCCI also anticipates potential retaliation from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) if India declines participation in the Champions Trophy 2025. However, the decision ultimately depends on the Indian government, with ongoing dialogues regarding the tournament.
The Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to be held in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9, featuring top cricketing nations in a thrilling competition.
