Azerbaijani NGO urges France to meet colonized people’s demands

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 31 – Executive Director of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), Abbas Abbasov, called on the French government to acknowledge and meet the legitimate demands of colonized peoples. He criticized the biased and unfounded claims made in the preliminary report of the French Senate Investigation Commission regarding Azerbaijan and the Baku Initiative Group. Abbasov highlighted BIG’s mission to raise awareness about the impacts of colonialism and neocolonialism and support oppressed peoples within the framework of international law.

Despite allegations in the report, BIG has organized multiple international conferences exposing France’s colonial crimes and advocating for decolonization. Abbasov refuted accusations of Islamophobia-related activities and emphasized BIG’s commitment to supporting the liberation struggles of all colonial peoples regardless of religion or ethnicity.

He urged the French government to address the just demands of people in the colonies and consider BIG’s fair criticisms. By focusing on international peace and justice, BIG aims to combat colonialism and neocolonialism without destabilizing French society.
