BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 30. During an online seminar at Washington’s Hudson Institute, Elchin Amirbayov, the representative of the President of Azerbaijan for Special Assignments, emphasized the importance of the Zangezur corridor in building confidence between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He highlighted the potential benefits of opening this transport link, stating that it could bring long-term peace and economic opportunities to both countries.
Amirbayov stressed that the Zangezur corridor has the power to transform the region’s dynamics and create a win-win situation for all parties involved. By allowing Armenia to access new economic projects and open its closed borders, he believes that the Crossroads of the World project could become a reality.
This initiative not only benefits Azerbaijan but also offers a lifeline to Armenia, which has been isolated due to the occupation of Azerbaijani lands. By increasing interdependence and fostering cooperation, the restoration of the Zangezur corridor could pave the way for a more prosperous and peaceful South Caucasus.
