Ensuring Continuity of HIV and TB Treatment in Sudan: UNDP’s Efforts
Over 20 metric tons of essential medicines, diagnostics, and supplies have been delivered by UNDP Sudan to support HIV and TB patients in the country. Valued at nearly US$900,000, these supplies were made possible through grant funds from The Global Fund, aiding over 120 MDR TB patients and 368 children living with HIV/AIDS.
This critical shipment included adult and pediatric anti-retroviral treatments, anti-tuberculosis medications, laboratory consumables, diagnostics, and ICT equipment. UNDP Sudan commended the Federal Ministry of Health’s resilience in delivering health services during challenging times and emphasized the importance of strengthening national capacity for sustainable healthcare.
In collaboration with The Global Fund, UNDP Sudan has been a key player in supporting Sudan’s national response to HIV and TB for nearly two decades. Their expertise and resources have been instrumental in maintaining treatment programs and ensuring the continuity of primary healthcare services, even in emergencies.
The partnership between UNDP Sudan, The Global Fund, and the Federal Ministry of Health highlights a commitment to public health in Sudan and maintaining essential services for the well-being of the population.
