Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan attended the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran, where Pezeshkian, a veteran reformist lawmaker and cardiac surgeon, was sworn in after defeating his conservative rival in a presidential runoff election on July 5. The election was held early following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 19.
Fidan’s visit to Tehran also included meetings with Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov and Iraq’s Kurdish Regional Government President Nechirvan Barzani, highlighting the importance of diplomatic relations in the region.
The presence of Turkish officials at the Iranian presidential inauguration signifies the ongoing cooperation and communication between the two neighboring countries. As diplomatic ties strengthen, opportunities for collaboration and mutual understanding are expected to increase, promoting peace and stability in the region.
