PSC praises IGP for proactive steps in preventing violence

Police Service Commission Commends IGP on Proactive Measures to Avert Violence

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has praised the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, for his proactive plans to prevent violent protests in Nigeria. The Commission urged Nigerians to support the Government’s efforts to improve living conditions and rebuild national unity.

Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu retd, expressed satisfaction with the IGP’s initiatives to ensure peaceful demonstrations and uphold professionalism in managing public protests. While acknowledging the right to peaceful protest, he emphasized the need to prevent violence escalation.

The withdrawal of Officers from extra policing services was seen as a strategic move to deploy more personnel for immediate support during potential unrest. The PSC Chairman called on Police Officers to uphold democracy by demonstrating professionalism and competence in protecting national security.

Overall, the Commission emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration between the Police and the public to ensure a progressive and prosperous nation.
