Several Israeli officials participated in the Beit Lid Riot, including Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu and Knesset member Tzvi Succot.

The leader of Israel’s Labor Party called for the imprisonment of Knesset members who stormed a military base to protest the arrest of soldiers accused of gang-raping a Palestinian detainee. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was blamed for creating armed militias by Yair Golan. Opposition leader Yair Lapid described the event as an attempted coup and criticized the government for losing control.

Ben-Gvir’s Role

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant questioned National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s involvement in delaying police response to the riot. Gallant urged Netanyahu to investigate the matter and take action against coalition members involved. Videos showed Jewish Power party members storming the military bases, causing clashes with soldiers and police.

Torture and Abuse

Israeli soldiers were accused of gang-raping a Palestinian detainee, leading to protests at army bases. Reports of severe mistreatment of Palestinian detainees and the release of detainees in poor health conditions have raised concerns. The army’s actions have drawn criticism for harming security and international reputation.
