Three Dead, Several Injured as BYC Protest Turns Violent
A peaceful protest by the Balochistan Yakjehti Committee (BYC) turned deadly as clashes with security forces left three people dead and over half a dozen injured in different areas of the province. Despite roadblocks, a large number of people gathered for the Baloch National Gathering on Marine Drive in Gwadar.
The demonstration led to confrontations at various checkpoints and teargas being used to disperse crowds. Health authorities confirmed the death toll and injuries, while BYC leader Dr Mahrang Baloch vowed to continue fighting for Baloch rights and demanded the release of detained protesters.
Life came to a halt in southern Balochistan due to road blockades and protests in various cities. Political leaders condemned the use of force and called for peaceful demonstrations. Amnesty International also urged Pakistani authorities to lift internet shutdowns and allow freedom of movement for protesters.
