The Ethiopian Federal Police released Sudanese political activist Hisham Ali, popularly known as Wad Galiba, after one day in detention. Wad Galiba was apprehended while at a market in Addis Ababa, informed that he was wanted for questioning by four individuals, including Sudanese nationals.
Known for his political stances, human rights activism, and controversial “The Devil Series” on social media, Wad Galiba faced complaints from Mohammed Osman, leading to his arrest. After being taken to the Lideta Police Station and court, he was released on personal bail pending further legal procedures.
Despite the ordeal, Wad Galiba remains committed to the revolution’s goals, thanking his supporters for standing by him. The police have requested his presence for additional procedures on Tuesday morning, reflecting the ongoing challenges faced by activists in advocating for democratic reforms in Sudan.
Wad Galiba’s release highlights the complex landscape of activism in the region and the importance of solidarity in facing adversity.
