China urges Japan to speed up the disposal of Abandoned Chemical Weapons (ACW) that were left in China by Japan during its war of aggression, emphasized Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The disposal process is vital as these weapons pose a serious threat to the lives and environment in China.
China expects Japan to adhere to the Chemical Weapons Convention and the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries regarding the destruction of ACW. Despite Japan’s efforts to recover and destroy a significant number of ACW, the process has been slow and faces obstacles, leading to missed deadlines and unresolved issues.
It is Japan’s responsibility to eliminate the harmful effects of ACW, and hence China urges Japan to take the matter seriously, invest more resources, and expedite the disposal process. By doing so, Japan can fulfill its obligations and return clean land to the Chinese people promptly.
