Leaders in the Northern region, represented by the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), have opposed the call for a 10-day protest to address the challenges of hardship and hunger plaguing the country. The forum expressed concerns over the lack of engagement with representatives and the unclear goals of the planned protest.
While recognizing citizens’ rights to express grievances, ACF emphasized the dire living conditions exacerbated by Nigeria’s current leadership. The Forum highlighted the pressing issue of insecurity in the North, questioning the effectiveness and potential consequences of the proposed protest.
ACF raised alarms about the risk of violence and criminal elements taking advantage of the situation. The Forum deemed the 10-day shutdown as counterproductive and unsustainable for the vulnerable population relying on daily earnings.
In light of the potential unrest and chaos, ACF firmly rejected participation in the protest and called on authorities to address policy shortcomings. The Forum urged the people of the North to refrain from joining the protest and advocated for a more thoughtful and constructive approach to addressing the country’s challenges.
