US announces .7 billion for Ukraine’s security

The United States recently announced new military aid for Ukraine amounting to around $1.7 billion, consisting of air defense munitions and artillery rounds urgently needed by Kyiv’s forces. This aid includes $200 million in equipment from existing US military stocks for quick deployment and about $1.5 billion in new orders that will take longer to arrive.

The assistance will provide Ukraine with various air defense munitions, artillery rounds, ammunition for precision rocket launchers, and anti-tank weapons to defend against Russian attacks. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed deep gratitude to US President Joe Biden, the Congress, and the American people for the support.

Zelensky visited special forces in the Kharkiv border region, where Russian forces previously attempted ground offensives without major breakthroughs. He emphasized the importance of ongoing aid in saving lives and protecting against Russian attacks.

Despite recent Russian advances, the conflict between Kyiv and Moscow remains deadlocked. The US has been a key military supporter of Ukraine, providing over $55 billion in aid since Russia’s invasion began in 2022. New aid packages have been crucial for Ukraine’s defense, with ongoing battles continuing in different regions.
