Reports from The Times suggest that the British authorities are in discussions about developing long-range missiles with a range of up to 3,200 km. This project is being considered in partnership with Germany, as both countries aim to counter Russia’s nuclear threat by targeting its territory.
During a recent visit to Germany, British Defense Secretary John Healey and his German counterpart, Boris Pistorius, explored the possibility of developing these long-range missiles. The plan involves replacing American cruise missiles currently stationed in Germany with more advanced weapons by 2026.
The development of these missiles would enhance European countries’ defense capabilities and reduce reliance on American weaponry. The British Armed Forces currently utilize Storm Shadow missiles, but the potential for new long-range missiles promises a significant upgrade in firepower.
Healey and Pistorius have signed a declaration on military cooperation, affirming their commitment to joint efforts in weapon development, production, and procurement.
