Surge in Q2 Job Openings

Professional job openings saw a 14.4% increase in the second quarter, with a surge in vacancies in April and May, according to Morgan McKinley’s Quarterly Employment Monitor. However, June saw a slight downturn.

Job seekers in the professional sector rose by 6.9% quarterly, with tech recruitment slowing due to US election caution. Conversely, the financial services sector saw an uptick in hiring driven by compliance needs related to DORA.

Accounting and finance showed strong hiring trends in Dublin, while the construction sector had a high demand for permanent roles, especially in government infrastructure projects.

The legal sector saw steady demand for in-house counsel and corporate lawyers, with a notable increase in vacancies for property lawyers reflecting activity in the real estate market.

Morgan McKinley’s Global FDI Director, Trayc Keevans, noted the Irish professional employment market’s resilience amidst global uncertainties, with varying levels of activity and caution in specific sectors.
