Last week, the UK’s Ambassador to the UN, Barbara Woodward, called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza at a UN Security Council meeting.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has urged Israel’s President Isaac Herzog to take immediate steps towards a ceasefire in Gaza while reaffirming his support for Israel’s right to self-defence. The two leaders met in Paris, emphasizing their commitment to the historic friendship between Israel and the United Kingdom.
Starmer also reiterated his ongoing support for Israel’s right to self-defence, emphasizing that there is no moral equivalence between Israel and Hamas. The leaders pledged to continue their partnership in areas such as trade and investment.
Rising Death Toll
Despite international condemnation and a UN resolution, Israel’s offensive in Gaza continues. Thousands of Palestinians have been killed and wounded, with many civilians, including women and children, affected. The conflict has led to a severe humanitarian crisis, including famine and forced displacement.
