Italy’s Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, urged for a ceasefire and de-escalation in the midst of escalating violence in the region. He held discussions with Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz and Lebanon’s Abdallah Bou Habib following a strike that claimed the lives of 12 minors in the Golan Heights.
Tajani emphasized the need to prevent further conflict, stating, “A new war must absolutely be avoided.” He reiterated Italy’s plea for an immediate ceasefire to both counterparts in an effort to halt the violence spreading in the region.
Expressing condolences for the tragic attack, Tajani assured Italy’s support for Lebanese institutions and the Lebanese Armed Forces. He highlighted the importance of stability in Lebanon and called for increased support to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities.
Additionally, Tajani stressed the importance of respecting and protecting the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, which includes Italian soldiers.
