Italy’s foreign minister, Antonio Tajani, urged for a ceasefire amid escalating violence after a strike in the Golan Heights that killed 12 minors. Tajani emphasized the need to halt the violence and prevent further conflict in the region.
During discussions with Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz and Lebanon’s Abdallah Bou Habib, Tajani reiterated Italy’s call for an immediate ceasefire and de-escalation. He expressed condolences for the attack and emphasized supporting Lebanese institutions for regional stability.
Tajani also highlighted the importance of backing the Lebanese Armed Forces and protecting the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. The diplomatic efforts to contain tensions involved the US, France, and other nations as they sought to prevent a retaliatory response from Israel.
