The Netherlands has recently made history by seizing a massive shipment of methamphetamine weighing 3.2 tons and valued at over 22 million euros. This unprecedented bust was discovered by Dutch customs officials in the port of Rotterdam hidden within a shipment from Mexico destined for a company in Den Hout.
Due to the unique hiding spot of the drugs in contaminated sandy soil, the authorities delayed announcing the seizure until proper disposal measures were taken. The shipment was destroyed last week, and a 55-year-old man from Den Hout was arrested as the prime suspect in the trafficking investigation.
According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, methamphetamine is a highly addictive stimulant and poses a significant risk to global health. This seizure serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking and the importance of international cooperation in combating the spread of harmful substances.
