The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Ayodele Sonubi, assured stakeholders at a meeting in Ibadan that the command is prepared to provide adequate protection to peaceful protesters ahead of the planned nationwide protest on August 1st.

He urged organizers to collaborate with the police for proper planning and protection, emphasizing the need for peaceful and lawful demonstrations. Sonubi highlighted the consequences that individuals found engaging in violence during protests might face.
Representatives from various groups, including religious leaders, student unions, and transport unions, also expressed their commitment to peaceful protests and engagement with the government for unity and development.
The meeting aimed to address concerns and ensure a peaceful protest environment while urging citizens to seek constructive channels for addressing grievances and calling on the government to tackle national challenges.
