Ireland’s Mona McSharry made history by securing the country’s first medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Competing in her second Olympic final, McSharry clinched a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke, beating top contenders by the slimmest of margins.

Ellen Walshe also made her Olympic final debut, finishing eighth in the women’s 400m individual medley. Despite not achieving the performance she had hoped for, Walshe remained positive and saw reaching the final as a significant achievement.
Danielle Hill, in the women’s 100m backstroke semi-finals, finished in eighth place but chose to focus on the positives and be proud of her semi-finalist status in a highly competitive field.
