MCD Cracks Down on Illegal Coaching Centres After Tragic Incident
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has taken swift action against illegal coaching centres following a devastating incident that claimed the lives of three civil services aspirants due to flooding in a basement coaching institute. The MCD has formed a high-level committee to investigate the matter.
A team from the civic body has sealed multiple basements in the Old Rajinder Nagar area, where several coaching centres were found to be operating illegally. Thirteen coaching centres including IAS Gurukul, Chahal Academy, and Career Power were sealed for violating regulations.
The Rau’s IAS Study Circle, where the tragedy occurred, has also been sealed. Last year, the MCD conducted a survey of coaching centres after a similar incident in Mukherjee Nagar.
Authorities have highlighted the need for better safety measures and enforcement of regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future. The Delhi Mayor is planning to establish a high-level committee in conjunction with the Delhi government to address the situation.
