Mayawati Takes Dig at SP for Ignoring PDA Community in LoP Appointment
Mayawati, the Bahujan Samaj Party chief, criticized the Samajwadi Party for appointing Mata Prasad Pandey, a Brahmin face, as Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. She alleged that the SP ignored the PDA community despite receiving their votes in the Lok Sabha polls.
Before the elections, Akhilesh Yadav, the SP leader, had mentioned the PDA acronym (‘Picchde, Dalit and Alpsankhyak’) community but Mayawati claimed that they have been misled by the SP. She expressed concerns about the neglect of these communities in the LoP appointment.
Mayawati stressed that the SP does not have space for any PDA community except for “one particular caste.” She highlighted the historical oppression faced by Brahmins under SP and BJP rule, emphasizing that their development only occurred during the BSP government.
Mata Prasad Pandey, the new LoP at 82 years old, replaces Akhilesh Yadav who resigned after being elected to the Lok Sabha. Mayawati’s sentiments reflect the ongoing political dynamics in Uttar Pradesh.
