Maduro celebrates victory from Miraflores Palace
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro celebrated his victory from Caracas’ Miraflores Palace after the National Electoral Council declared him the winner over opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia. Maduro received 51.2% of the vote while his rival got 44.2%, with 80% of the votes counted.
In his victory speech, Maduro emphasized the importance of respecting the will of the Venezuelan people and hailed his re-election. He mentioned the challenges faced during his tenure, including economic crises and international sanctions. Maduro also addressed concerns about alleged hacking in the vote counting process.
The announcement of Maduro’s victory drew mixed reactions from leaders in Argentina and Chile, with concerns raised about the validity of the results. International observers and transparency were called for by leaders, urging respect for democracy and the will of the people.
