Lebanon Receives Assurances About Israeli Strike

Lebanon confirmed on Sunday that it has received international assurances regarding an Israeli strike in response to a rocket attack in Majdal Shams. The Lebanese Foreign Minister stated that the response from both Israel and Hezbollah will be limited, despite tensions escalating between the two sides.

While Israel blamed Hezbollah for the attack, the Lebanese group denied involvement. The Foreign Minister highlighted that Hezbollah, not the Lebanese state, is the one fighting against Israel. He condemned any aggression against civilians and criticized Israel’s actions in Gaza.

The Golan Heights, a strategic region occupied by Israel since 1967, has been a focal point of the conflict. The Israeli Security Cabinet authorized Prime Minister Netanyahu to determine the course of action against Hezbollah, raising concerns of a full-blown war.

Amid cross-border attacks and heightened tensions, the risk of escalation looms. The situation comes in the aftermath of a deadly Israeli offensive in Gaza, highlighting the volatile nature of the region.
